One of the most popular activities in Summit County in the summertime (and winter too!) is fly-fishing. A day out on the river fishing a gold medal trout stream surrounded by spectacular scenery is hard to beat. The outfitter we recommend has full-time professional guides who have been fishing all of the local rivers and streams for years. They know all of the local secrets, which spots fish best in what weather and at what water levels. Why waste time trying to find them for yourself when one of our experienced guides can take you straight there, for a truly memorable day on the river?

The guides are all experienced in both guiding and instruction, so whatever your experience level, from absolute beginner to seasoned veteran, you'll get so much more from your day out with their knowledge, hints, tips and advice. The guides will teach you how, show you where, take you there, and even help you net your fish!

The fly-fishing is on four gold medal trout streams - the Blue River, the Colorado River, the Arkansas River, and the South Platte River and their tributaries. The outfitter encourages a catch and release policy to ensure healthy trout populations for the future. There are full and half day trips available. There are also private waters available at extra cost dependant upon location and the fees charged by the local landowner (between $60 and $100).

The outfitter specializes in individuals, families and groups, and will accommodate up to three fishermen per guide. Orvis rods, reels and waders are provided for all trips, all you need to provide is a fishing license and flies (which can be purchased at the store before departure). Advance booking is highly recommended, since these guides are in very high demand! Remember that trips go out rain or shine and that the high country weather can be very volatile, so hats, sunglasses, and sunscreen are always recommended, but don't forget to pack some warm clothing and raingear just in case.

Half-Day Fishing Trips:
These trips will take you to either the Blue River, Colorado River, or the South Platte River and their tributaries on a four-hour expedition.

Full Day Fishing Trips:
This full eight-hour expedition takes you to any of the four gold medal rivers - Blue, Colorado, Arkansas, South Platte, or private waters. The trip includes lunch and beverages.

Float Fishing trips:
These trips are full days on the upper section of one of the worlds most famous rivers - the Colorado (a private put-in is also available). Float and fish out of dory boats or rafts, through the canyons of its upper reaches. The Stillwater trips are great when the rivers are swollen or for anglers looking to hone their casting skills, and are located on local reservoirs and lakes. The trips include lunch and beverages.
