Leadville Airport is the highest airport in North America and the third highest in the world, so even pilots dream about flying here! The only two airports in the world that are higher are both located in the South American Andean Mountains.

Get a birds eye view of Summit County, and fly over some of the highest peaks and terrain in North America. See all of our ski areas from the air, fly over beautiful Lake Dillon and Turquoise Lake and get a whole new perspective on this amazing part of the country. Or try "The Passes", a local flight of approximately 1 hour. The Upper Arkansas Valley is surrounded by seven passes, which lie between the highest mountains of Colorado and the Rocky Mountain chain. You will fly to these passes: Low Pass, Weston Pass, Mosquito Pass (which is the highest in the US), Fremont Pass, Tennessee Pass, Hagerman Pass, and Independence Pass. Whichever flight you choose (the pilot will take you wherever you want to go â.. fuel permitting!!!) you will receive a â..Certificate of Pilotage for the airways of the highest airport in North Americaâ.�.

In recent years approximately four million dollars has been spent by FAA, Colorado, and Lake County to bring the airport up to a state of the art condition, including installation of a new GPS instrument approach, which allows Instrument Flight Rules (IFR) approaches and landings to be made.

Your Pilot will be a certified flight instructor with experience in mountain and high density altitude flying, who is already familiar with the local area, so you can be assured that you are in the safest hands. The operator is fully insured and the flights are available to all. The planes available are three Cessna 172â..s which can accommodate the pilot and one passenger.
